Meet Buck: The Adventure Buddy with the Softest Heart
Mar 03, 2026
There are dogs who bark loud…
And there are dogs who love even louder.
Buck is both.
Currently being fostered in Portland, Oregon by Doglingual, Buck has spent the last five months transforming into an incredible companion. After being owner surrendered, he entered a professional board-and-train program focused on structure, safety, and confidence.
Today, Buck is a 2-year-old, 75-pound American Staffordshire Terrier / German Shepherd mix (according to his Wisdom Panel) with:
- Excellent leash manners
- Reliable off-leash recall (trained on a Mini Educator e-collar)
- Strong obedience foundation (sit, down, heel, place, recall, out, shake)
- A favorite trick called “Hi Barbie” (his adorable wave)
- Calm behavior at vendor events and in public settings
- Crate trained
- No separation anxiety
- Confidence hiking, adventuring, and exploring
But what truly defines Buck isn’t his training.
It’s his heart.
Buck is deeply people-oriented. He bonds hard. When his foster mom walks in the door, he sits in front of her and smiles — full grin, full joy. He wants to please. He wants to learn. He wants to belong.
He’s social with other dogs his size and respects boundaries. He would do best in a home with confident, experienced owners who understand large, powerful breeds. Kids 10+ with structure and boundaries would be appropriate.
Buck thrives with adventure — hiking in the mountains, snow days, off-leash forest time. He would love an active but calm household that balances movement with leadership.
