Introducing Homebound Hound

Homebound Hound is a community-driven project created to help overlooked shelter dogs be seen, understood, and adopted—while supporting the people who show up for them every day.

At its core, Homebound Hound exists to tell better stories. Not louder ones. Not sadder ones. Just more human, more honest stories that help the right dogs find the right homes.

What Is Homebound Hound?

Homebound Hound is a collaboration between Pacific Hound, animal shelters, rescues, and photographers who care deeply about dogs who need more visibility.

We focus on dogs who are often overlooked—long-term residents, senior dogs, or dogs who may be passed over because of age, breed, or time spent in shelter. By pairing strong photography with story-driven profiles, we help bring these dogs’ personalities to life in a way a standard listing can’t.

Each Homebound Hound feature centers on connection—showing who a dog is, not just what they are on paper.

How Homebound Hound Creates Impact

Homebound Hound is designed to remove barriers and add visibility where it matters most.

  • We spotlight overlooked dogs
By telling thoughtful, personality-forward stories, we help dogs stand out to potential adopters who may have otherwise missed them.
  • We support shelters and rescues
We highlight the important work organizations are doing in their communities and link directly back to adoption pages, donation resources, and volunteer opportunities.
  • We cover adoption fees
Pacific Hound covers the adoption fees for featured dogs—removing one more hurdle between a dog and their future family.
  • We provide gear with purpose
Featured dogs receive Pacific Hound scarves and collars for their photoshoots—small details that add warmth, dignity, and visibility.

This project was inspired by one unforgettable foster dog named Grandpa, whose story shaped the heart of Homebound Hound. His legacy lives on through every dog we feature.

How the Process Works

We’ve designed Homebound Hound to be simple, collaborative, and centered on the dogs.

  1. Apply Here
Shelters, rescues, and photographers (or volunteers who regularly work with shelters) can apply using our short application form.
  2. Tell the Dog’s Story
Once approved, applicants submit photos and share details about two long-term or overlooked dogs—who they are, what they love, and the kind of home they need.
  3. We Take It From There
Pacific Hound covers adoption fees, provides scarves and collars, and shares the dogs’ stories across our email, social, and website—always linking back to the shelter or adoption page.

Who Can Apply?

Homebound Hound is open to people already doing the work to help dogs get seen and adopted, including:

  • Animal shelters and rescue organizations
  • Photographers who regularly work with shelters or rescues
  • Volunteers or advocates who consistently visit shelters and help tell dogs’ stories

If you’re helping dogs find homes and believe in the power of storytelling, we’d love to hear from you.
